About Steve Paterson

Steve has more than 40 years experience in materials and corrosion in the Oil and Gas Industry, and is currently an external adviser in corrosion and materials. Until 2017 he was the global principle technical expert for upstream materials at Shell. During his carrier Steve has worked in the oil and energy sector in the UK, Norway, Netherlands, the Middle East and Malaysia. 

Steve is an experienced Technical Expert with a demonstrated history of working in the oil & energy industry, skilled in Materials, Corrosion, Welding, and Inspection. He has implemented material integrity and management procedures, and has played a key role in many material failure investigations. Additionally Steve is a regular trainer and works as an external university lecturer.
