How to Avoid Pipework Vibration Problems

In this free livestream, we connect with Neil Parkinson from VibTech Ltd. Neil has over 40 years of experience in solving pipe vibrations challenges in industrial piping systems and has worked with a great number of mitigation methods.

It has been estimated that around 21% of process pipework failures are due to vibration and fatigue and process pipework designed to comply with the Industry ‘Best Practice’ recommendations from the Energy Institute will have a lower risk of failures due to vibration-induced fatigue cracking. However, examples of non-compliance with ‘Best Practices’ can be found on every single process site in the world, even though the adoption of best practices is not actually that difficult.

During this 30-minute conversation, Neil and Luuk  examine the top 6 most common mistakes that are made, discuss their backgrounds, and the reasons why ‘Best Practice’ has not been implemented.

Primary vs. Secondary Stress: Analysis and considerations

Understanding the difference between Primary and Secondary stress can be challenging when first encountering these concepts, whether it is in the context of pipe stress analysis or any evaluation of material stresses.

In this livestream we welcome Juan Manuel Mendez Franco who is the COO at Stressman Engineering, founder of the PSI Association, and instructor of the course “Pipe Stress Engineering: Fundamentals I & II”.

Together with host Luuk Hennen from EngineeringTrainer.com Juan discusses his take on the concepts of Primary and Secondary stress, the associated failure modes, and loading conditions based on content used in his course.

Pipe stress engineering: Importance of accurate analysis

If we have learned anything from history it is that accidents happen and that people make mistakes. This also counts for piping systems. Most engineers have seen images of catastrophic failures at factories and plants.

In this livestream Juan Manuel Mendez Franco from Stressman Engineering and host Luuk Hennen from EngineeringTrainer.com discuss the importance of an accurate pipe stress analysis to minimize the chance of failures in your plant.
